Instagram Introduces Resharing of Public Stories Without Mentions

Instagram has rolled out a new feature that allows users to reshare public Stories even if they haven’t been tagged. Previously, only Stories that mentioned a user could be shared, but this update significantly broadens how content can be circulated on the platform.

With this new feature, any public Story can now be reshared directly to your own Story, giving users greater flexibility to share content they find interesting or relevant. The resharing process is simple: when viewing a public Story, a “Share” option appears, letting users add the Story to their feed with optional stickers, text, or captions.

This update aims to boost engagement and make it easier for users to spread content across communities, while still respecting the privacy of accounts set to private. Instagram also ensures that reshared Stories retain the original creator’s username, giving proper credit and maintaining transparency.

By enabling broader sharing, Instagram continues to strengthen its position as a platform for discovery, creativity, and real-time content circulation.
